    Flashback Friday: Bridal Session

Last week my husband and I celebrated 5 years of marriage.  I honestly feel like we blinked and came into 2016. Time fly’s when you are with the one you love 🙂 We celebrated with a staycation all week.   It allowed us to slow down and reflect on memories and milestones.  Looking through tons of pics to refresh those past experiences, I came across photos from my bridal session.

So for flashback friday, I am sharing some of my  favorite shots from my shoot with Almond Leaf Studios.  Please let me emphasize “SOME.”  Elizabeth captured  so many great images there is just too many to share.  This is my first time sharing these 🙂

All Day Morning Sickness. Yes All Day.

Halfway into my first trimester, I became very ill.  It wasn’t the  “morning sickness” I was expecting.  This type of nausea totally caught me off guard and had me feeling there was something extremely wrong.

The vomiting wouldn’t stop.  It should have been called “All Day sickness” because it wasn’t just in the morning. Also, dizzy spells thought it would be fun to join in too :/

As a precaution, I made an appointment with my obstetrician.  She diagnosed me with an extreme case of morning sickness, medically known as “hyperemesis gravidarum.” It is typical for women to feel this type of sickness in their first trimester, but a small percentage has these symptoms throughout their entire pregnancy. Although, I was relieved my symptoms were common, the thought of feeling so sick for 34 more weeks had me completely nervous.

    Mr. ONEderful Birthday!

The month of June has completely flown by.

Between planning baby boys birthday, fathers day and random life moments we wrapped up the month quick.

I have finally been able to gather the details from the big ONE celebration. The theme was “Mr. ONEderful” Oh so fitting for a first birthday. If you know me you know that creating fun gatherings is something I love.

The color schemed mirrored his nursery. I honestly didn’t realize it until half way through the planning process. I suppose these are just colors I am drawn too! Lol

Here are some of the party’s highlights.

Kim Kimble is one of the top Celebrity Hairstylists in the industry with an amazing clientele. She’s worked with Beyonce, Rihanna, Iggy Azalea, Mary J. Blige and my special favorite Miss Piggy. She has two salons, launching her second location in Hollywood, California.

During this time she created her Kimble Haircare Line. This multicultural line tackles the needs of textured hair. Her last line, “Bounce Back Curl” made its debut in Sally’s Beauty Supply stores earlier this year. This line is specifically for the curly girls:) The line includes the Bounce Back Curl Conditioner, Shampoo, Liquid Curl Enhancer, Curl Cream and Revitalizer. Celebrating AGM (Baby Manley)

We have been blessed with such great family and friends and had 3 wonderful events for Baby Manley’s appending arrival. The best way to share was for me to create one post of all the fun.  Check it out below.
The first shower was held in Richmond, Va and hosted by my mother-in-law and sister-in-law.

The theme was “Ahoy It’s a Boy.” So cute.  Here are some of the details blue and yellow details 🙂
The cake had little life saver tubes on it 🙂

    Cake pop favors for guests.

My mother-in-law made the cutest baby carrier out of a watermelon.

My mother-in-law made this watermelon baby carriage and added fruit inside.  Check out the orange wheels!

My sisters and mother throw us a shower here in Charlotte with hints of blue, green and bowties to match.  They planned the entire shower living out of state.   So sweet.

The Shower was held at Vanlandingham Estate in Charlotte.

Ok so there is a story behind the cake.  Mom wanted a sleeping baby on the top of the cake.  So my sister sent the bakery pics of what we wanted.  She forgot to mention we were black lol. All the pics that were sent were of white babies. So funny.  The bakery was able to add a little hint of “melanin” (food coloring). This cake was so sweet.

Last but not least, my friends  Jameka and Brie threw me a surprise shower at an art studio here in Charlotte.  Larry was in on the surprise too! I gotta watch these sneaky people 🙂  Of course I nearly cried.  Funny thing is that I was looking for these ladies and the guests that attended at the shower I shared above.  It was odd to me there was such a big number of guests that didn’t show without saying they couldn’t make it.  I figured it out once I arrived. LOL

This shower was so sweet and unique. We painted pottery for Baby Manley’s room.  It was a relaxing and intimate gathering.  We must go paint again soon.

The elephant on this cake is cute! “Cute” is becoming pretty regular in my vocal for anything I love very much LOL. Not to mention the cake has suspenders with the bowtie LOVE!

Elephants are my fav.  There were hints of them in the shower decor 🙂

    Jameka and Brie

Jameka’s Mom made these delicious vegan chocolate brownies as favors.  How sweet  are these little clip on chalkboards?

Check out our finished pottery.  Larry was able to go pick it up a week later.  Adding these creations to his nursery. We did a good job huh?

We are so thankful to our family and friends for throwing us and/or  attending such amazing showers in honor of Baby Manley.  Words truly can’t express how grateful we are.  He’s so loved.

Special thank you again to my mother-in-law, sister-in-law, my sisters, mom, Brie and Jameka.  Love you all!
